Engineered flooring consists of a surface layer of hardwood, overlaid with plywood. This feature gives it a better stability against humidity variations.
Due to its composition, it can be installed on all types of subfloors. It is also possible to use a nailed, glued or floating installation. Due to its structure, this type of floor is also often found in a "long and wide" format.
Often found in smaller widths, it is mainly installed on the ground floor and upper floors, but is not recommended for the basement due to the possible variation in humidity. This type of flooring is mainly found in 1/2" or 3/4" thickness. It is also strongly recommended to nail the floors to the subfloor.
